I wish you all a good start into the new year!
G. Fabry: Etude sur les operations de l'Empereur 28 août-4 septembre 1813
At the beginning of the 20th century, Joseph-Gabriel-André Fabry published various studies in France on the campaigns in Italy and especially Russia 1812 and the autumn campaign in Saxony 1813 on behalf of the French General Staff. His studies are based on the files of the French war archives, in particular the correspondence of the French commanders involved. His studies were primarily intended for the staffs of the French army corps, which is why they were only published in a very small edition. They are very difficult to find in antiquarian bookshops today and, if at all, at very high prices.
Does anyone happen to have an online link to the title mentioned above? I have not been able to find it at Gallica. Other titles by Fabry can be downloaded there, but this title in particular is missing. Prince d'Essling has it listed in the 1813 campaign on theminiaturepage in his excellent list of online literature, but the link only leads to an error message.
I would be very happy about any hint!
Thank you so much, Ian! That is really great! Will remember to use a VPN the next time...😊
Great, Ian ... I just got some efforts with Hans-Karl and you served the file perfectly.
All the best for 2025

To make life easy - here is a copy:
As I said at the start of the list of downloadable items for the 1813 campaign, for some items a VPN will be needed to simulate the US. That volume is one of those items if a non-US person that you need to use a VPN to download..
Hello David,
No, that's a different work by Fabry. Fabry published several studies on Napoleon's attempt to bring the Allies to a decisive battle after the end of the armistice.
In addition to the work I mentioned, Fabry published the following studies:
- Journal des opérations des 3e & 5e Corps d'Armée en 1813
- Étude sur les Operations du Maréchal Oudinot 15 août - 4 septembre 1813
- Étude sur les Operations du Maréchal Macdonald 22 août - 4 septembre 1813
- Étude sur les Opérations de l'Empereur 5 septembre - 21 septembre 1813
- Étude sur les Opérations de l'Empereur 22 septembre - 3 octobre 1813 (mentioned by you)
All these works can be downloaded from Gallica or other sites. Unfortunately not the work I mentioned, which covers the days from 28 August to 4 September.
