I just got the new book "Les Marins Francais 1789-1830 - Étude du corps social et de ses uniformes" from France and was impressed by the thorough research and the wealth of images, mostly unknown to us "uniform researchers".
The author is a real expert as he's a retired vice-admiral of the French submarine fleet and offers lots of information on his personal internet site. He prepared this book with the co-editing by the French marine museum.
This site also contains more information about his book at https://www.marins-traditions.fr/les-uniformes-des-officiers-de-la-marine-1830-1940-copy ... there you may also read some sample pages via the button "Feuilleter..."; an order can be sent to the editor Bernard Giovanangeli via bged AT wanadoo DOT fr.
The book does not only contain information about the sailors and sea-officers, but also about the French guard marines and the marine infantry.
So, perhaps some of you may be interested in getting a sample too
