The Round Table will discuss the private correspondence of the octogenarian duchesse d’Elbeuf, which presented a new, strikingly counter-revolutionary view of Paris between 1788 and 1794, even though resident at the very centre of the city for most of the period. The correspondence is featured in an exhibition currently running at the UCL Art Gallery, entitled ‘Witnessing Terror: French Revolutionary Prints, 1792-4’. The Round Table discussion will bring together the Elbeuf correspondence team, Professor Colin Jones and Dr Simon Macdonald (QMUL) and Dr Alex Fairfax-Cholmely (Exeter) along with Dr Ricard Taws (UCL), who has co-curated the exhibition. The session will be chaired by Dr Sanja Perovic (KCL). Members can currently book an appointment to visit the exhibition during UCL Wednesdays. Please register your interest at UCL Art Museum's booking site: https://www.ucl.ac.uk/event-ticketing/booking?ev=20008. Despite the notice non-UCL visitors are permitted.
