"Netflix, together with CNC, will finance a new restoration of Abel Gance’s 1927 silent French epic “Napoleon,” considered a classic of world cinema. The plan is to restore the so-called Apollo version of the film, considered Gance’s definitive cut of the movie, which runs nearly seven hours, by May 5, the 200th anniversary of Napoleon’s death."

For those who still care, the Ridley Scott "Napoleon" fiasco is now streaming.
Apparently this will be available on Netflix in July 2024.
Yes, indeed, Tom - I also saw the wonderful permission in a theater with a national (I think the Polish) playing the music live ... and I may think about a live visit if I get some drinks meanwhile 😎
And as a Netflix-subscriber I hope to watch this movie not only at the 5th of may 😎
I assume when is done, it will be shown in selected theaters (they should be open by then), possibly in some places with a live orchestra. I saw the shorter restoration in the ornate Chicago Theater in the Chicago Loop with an orchestra. Carmine Coppola (Francis Ford Coppola's father) conducted the 60-piece orchestra and the theater's own restored original Mighty Wurlitzer organ. It was an interesting experience.

well that would be a better way to celebrate this day than to clad myself in black mourning dress, but to watch this - however Netflix - I would have to pay - for seeing this.
