Hello everyone,
After some research on the 72e Ligne in 1809, I stumbled upon the 72e Ligne (ex 84e Ligne) controles de troupes showing the history of the organization of the regiment in 1815. For fans of the 1815 campaign, we are shown details of where each battalion of the regiment fought and even their actions during the Battle of Waterloo. It seems the regiment maintained their square in the face of heavy fire and several cavalry charges.

Lamarque handwriting ... not easy i would say !! (i try to contact Frederic > thanks a lot for the tip) 😊
Michael, Hey, everything from Schauenburg is ... very interesting ! Do you know if Frederic Has letters from him ? , some of them were published in Colin book la tactique et la discipline (but perhaps not all of them, not sure). (but of course i don't mean to hijack your thread ) kind regards 😊
Hi Michael, ok i have found it back : it was about Général Lamarque and his study of the Waterloo battlefield : (Notice historique et carte de la bataille de Waterloo, 18 juin 1815.) i was never able to find that doc in the scanned archive, even if it's referenced in the inventory .. perhaps i was just unable to read those handwritten docs ... here : https://www.siv.archives-nationales.culture.gouv.fr/siv/rechercheconsultation/consultation/ir/consultationIR.action?irId=FRAN_IR_003492&udId=d_2_2_10_1&details=true&gotoArchivesNums=false&auSeinIR=true&fullText=waterloo&optionFullText=ET
Hi Michael, yes most of those are *more or less* easy to decipher ! i tried to find back some links send to HK from a French general archive available online (scans) which were very difficult to read ! but proton mail seems unreliable, a bunch of mails are no more there in the archive ... i must applaud your efforts to translate those documents ! ; ) best regards (i share the link if HK find it back ..)
thanks for sharing Michael. unfortunately, the challenge is to get those elements in .text format. i have tried to read similar docs from French archives (scanned docs) in french, but the calligraphy is often very very difficult to read / understand even for a french speaker. yours seems easy in contrast !!! cheers.
Thanks again, a bit too small to read - still impressive what is there in the archives.
