Hello everyone,
I recently worked on translating a service record of Jean Martin Guicherd, an NCO from the 12e Legere. I have been lucky enough to have both his service record in the 2YB folder and one from his Base Leonore file. Below can be seen the original file and the translated file. The 12e Legere has a soft spot in my heart as it is the first regiment I ever researched.
Hopefully, my translation does the man justice as he fought in many famous battles and was constantly cited for bravery. I also am providing links to the men who signed his document. Unfortantely, I could not find an officer name Touze or Louze. The closes name I could find is Tossot who was a Lt in 1811.
As you can see above from his service record found in the 2YB572 12e Legere, he served in Spain in 1810 and 1811 and Grande Armee in 1814. He was also wounded twice four days apart at the Battle of Heilsberg and Battle of Friedland. Other than the Battle of Albuera in 1811, the late night attack at Heilsberg was the most costly day for the regiment.
