ABSTRACT
The French and British historians who wrote about the Peninsular War, tried to hide the presence of their German allies on those facts decisive weapons for their armies. One of the most important victories of Lord Wellington, storming of Badajoz april 6, 1812, could not have happened without the action of one of these German mercenaries. However, his exploits were silenced and History recognized a British soldier, as the first man to set foot in the city of Badajoz. This report attempts to recover the memory of Wilhelm von Girsewald.
