Hopefully enough Napoleonic content here for this to be of interest to people: https://www.helion.co.uk/military-history-shows-and-conferences/inaugural-from-reason-to-revolution-1721-1815-naval-warfare-in-the-age-of-sail-conference.php
Sorry, crossed purposes here I suspect Daniel. Phrasing was simply intended to convey that I would have also welcomed proposals for papers on Swedish, Danish, or Dutch navies as well as that of Russia, but alas nothing was forthcoming. You are of course quite right that the Russian fleet was operating far beyond the Baltic; indeed, one of the titles in the book series that this conference is linked to is a translated account of the Russian fleet in the Mediterranean during the Napoleonic era.
Thanks for the clarification. The book you are referring to is this one, I assume: https://www.helion.co.uk/military-history-books/northern-tars-in-southern-waters-the-russian-fleet-in -the-mediterranean-1806-1810.php. I have it. Good read.
No thanks, I don't care a bit, really. Another superficial, far too unfocused blah blah event, which is allegedly meant to cover a period of nearly a 100 years and should be dealing with numerous navies but, in essence, will be dealing with the Brit and American navies in the first instance - as always. With - as an aside - the Frenchies - and Spanish, perhaps the Neapolitans too - playing the compulsory non-Anglo-American secondary third part ... uuahh!. We've seen way too much of this.
Take a look at what is being advertised as a "major Napoleonic era conference " in another post. It is nothing more than a Brit-centric love fest with third-string presenters who are continually selected to say the same old/same old inanities. I cannot imagine anyone with any broad knowledge of the era from other viewpoints paying to attend.
that sounds quite interesting, a pity that I don't live in the UK - any chance to include the Russian Navy as well?
